up the mountain

We just had a whirlwind of a visit with Norbert's brother, and his girlfriend, who came in from Finland.

They arrived on Friday and Norbert is just heading back now, from the airport.

Their visit was short, but super sweet and fun.

It had been a few years since we had last seen them!

We went all over, but I actually remembered to bring my camera when we took them to ski in Vail.

I captured a few photographs....

but really, I just spent most of that time laughing. 

And talking. 

A lot :)

And there were a few football games in there, too!

You know - I've mentioned my love of public art and sculpture.....

And then heading out: a reminder of summertime.

I'm trying really hard not to give you an exact date for our upcoming shop update because I always underestimate how long it takes (which totally leads to stress because I HATE being late).

BUT, I'm nearing the end. I will say that! 

You see, I just get super excited and over eager to get my new work out there :)

I'll of course let you know here and on Facebook first. 

So keep an eye on those two spots for when I finally get these new designs posted.

Visiting

We have had a house FULL the last few days.

As I mentioned last week, my parents have moved here to Colorado from their home in New Mexico and my sister, her husband, and my brother, and his wife, helped them with their move.

I had a few minutes today to pop in and share a few pictures...

I love having my family here.

I'm scheming on ways to get the rest of them to move here as well!

And on an important sidenote, Norbert and I have been incredibly flattered and thrilled with the response to our

 Quit Your Day Job article for Etsy. The response has been absolutely wonderful. I can't tell you how much it means to us to have so many people take the time to send such uplifing comments and emails.

Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Weekend wrap-up

Our little trip just flew by in a flash. We had a lot of fun while there, though.

The driving....not so much (the boys were really cranky when we got in last night :(

We mainly hung out at my sister and brother-in-law's house as well as his restaurant.

The birthday boy got a serenade from a local performer...and he kept a poker-face the whole time!

He wasn't sure what to make of all the racket I guess.

I can't say that I got a lot of rest....don't you just love coming back from 'vacations' (even mini ones) exhausted! I foresee a lot of early nights in my near future.............

The Last Lap

I'm back to work today...I was able to extend my drop off to the Arvada Center by one day so we'll be getting my jewelry to them on Wednesday. Thank goodness for that because otherwise I would have been pulling some seriously late nights. As it is, we are in crunch mode. I'm excited to have my jewelry showcased in this gallery, but I have to admit that I am looking forward to finishing up preparing for it! Between this show and the wonderful steady flow of Etsy orders I have been unable to work on new pieces or designs.

On the drive home from NM I was sketching and sketching new ideas. I can't wait to get started on new work!!! I'll definitely be able to get this going after Wednesday. I consider myself an artist, first and foremost, and its hard to sit on my inspiration for so long.....it makes me antsy. I need that release.

Well our little vacation was a nice reprieve and I recouped a lot of energy. I have to admit that I was ready to get home and get back to work though! Ha! Can you believe it? That is a very good sign in my eyes.

While at my parents I ate a lot no overeating though...that's a thing of the past and hung out with my parents, brother, sister and their significant others', aunt, as well as had a wonderful visit with my uncle, who I hadn't seen in 10 years or so. Have I mentioned that my dad has 12 sisters and 4 brothers?? Yes, that makes for a very, very, very large family! They are scattered everywhere, but there is a good concentration of them in the Albuquerque area....about 9 of them including my dad. And yes.....they all have the same mother and father!

I also got a lot of playing time in with my nieces and nephews. We celebrated my little one's birthday again and also my niece and nephew (twins).

This birthday cake my sister made was added in with all of the pumpkin pies my mom made. I think she made about 6 or 7 pies! We cleaned them out those few days too :)

Okay I'm off to post this lone ring to my shop. I snuck it in last week along with all of my other orders ;) It is such a gorgeous piece of turquoise....I couldn't resist.

Almost on vacation...

I forgot to mention that I am heading down to NM to visit my familia this weekend and also to attend my grandpa's 90th birthday. We're going to take off after dinner tomorrow....this way my bambinos can sleep most of the trip. We'll get there in the middle of the night and just fall right into bed. We will come back on Sunday so its going to be a short trip, but we wanted to visit....I haven't been there since April. I most especially want to see my little nephew. He is my little sister's first baby so he is extra special ;) The last time I saw him was when he was born!

I decided not to close my shop for this weekend because I will be gone for such a short time. Any orders that come in will ship out first thing Monday morning....I'll put that announcement up in my shop as well.

I plan on posting new pieces throughout the weekend too. A few a day....here are three that I posted today:

Those middle earrings are named for my other sister.....so they are extra special.
