Spring on Pearl Street

We had a wonderful day....it went like this:

-woke up to waffles and strawberry jam
-walked to the park (decaf coffees in hand) with friends
-more coffee and freshly toasted bagels at a local favorite
-jumped and played in the dino area and then spent some time lusting and perusing in Crate & Barrel
-took a nice looooong nap to the sound of rain
-woke up to a slice of homemade pizza
-sped off to Pearl St. for ice cream and fresh air
-had good conversation with a Swiss couple while there - whose little girl attends preschool with my monkey
-listened to my husband speak German to them, which I found quite sexy ;)

And now I am heading to bed to read for a bit.....nice, huh :)

I am SO easy to please.
goodnight!

Where did it go?

hanging out in the sun at Pearl St.

I'm here :)
I didn't intend on being gone the past three days....it just happened. Well, let me tell you.......the past week has been a bit insane. I received a lot of exposure from the giveaway on cup of jo. People found me and it was wonderful. Plus I sent many, many of my pieces to Estes Park and Fairhope. All of a sudden my shop was depleted at the same time I had more people venture in. Not planned, but absolutely loved nonetheless.

My mind is all over the place. I think the season does this to me. I am always so (more so anyway) reflective at this time of the year. Thinking a lot about the past........where will I be in the future? I prefer thinking of the future.......its exciting. I am not too keen about the past. Unfortunate to say that, but its true. I think its because it took me a long time to grow up....and too many sad events that my mind still has a hard time wrapping around.

I am excited to list new pieces this week....it feels like its been awhile and the process of finishing a piece successfully and showing it to the world is such an exhilerating feeling. ;) I'm addicted.

This song is ridiculously beautiful. It is a fitting song for today.
Her name: Maria Taylor

(sorry for the chaotic nature of the blog post today.....I think I need some chamomile tea and a good book to curl up with)

goodnight
xx

Happiness and Crankiness

We hung out at Pearl Street again this evening. It was fun....and not fun. The fun part was more at the beginning of our evening. We walked around, the kids played and we found this really interesting group 'performing' capoeira, which is a Brazilian martial arts/art form. You really should click here to see this in action. The boys watched it as if they were in a trance. The music was really cool too.

My little monkey liked this guy.
The big monkey did not, and he didn't want his little brother to like him either! So we quickly moved on after mommy snapped a picture.

So the part that was not fun was when we were searching for a place to eat (it needed to be patio seating so that when the boys got antsy they could move around and play with us watching them), which took far too long, and led to hunger-induced irritation. This feeling was felt by every single family member. The monkeys began to be mean to their parents and eachother. And I was NOT in the mood to deal with it. So we quickly bought pizza and sat on a bench because empty stomachs are no laughing matter. After that, all was well with the world ;)

Okay, so here is my tray of shiny things that will be posted tomorrow. I will be busy all morning getting them into my Etsy shop. Keep an eye out ;)

Quick sidenote: A Mighty Heart was a really good and thought-provoking film. Be prepared for it to be a serious and non-light hearted movie. I also suggest not looking up information about the story until after the film....this way it is a bit more suspensful. I remembered some tidbits about it from the past, but not fully. I of course hopped on the computer after, to read more. I tend to do that for most films I like :)

Pearl Street

I have had such a fantastic couple of days.

I started my blog yesterday when we got home last night....but ended up fading out and fell asleep instead :) So here I am posting about yesterday to make up for it. It all started with a coffee date with my two monkeys at our local coffee shop. They get chocolate milk and mommy gets a nice humungo (is that a word?) cup of jo. We walked over there and had so much fun staring at the sky, talking to the puppies who walked by and picking up rollie pollies from our path. The kind of simple pure fun that only occurs with little ones.

Next up we had a snack and then headed over to 'our' park to hang out with some neighbor kids and practice some bike-riding. Later that evening we decided to go and hang out at the Pearl St. mall in Boulder. We are just a few minutes from Boulder, so we get to enjoy all the local activities there as well as the multitude of fun things that occur in all the surrounding small towns. There is seriously no shortage of things to do in our adopted home.

Here are a few images from that night:

These ladies were playing some amazing music when we first got there. The boys just loved it...as did Mr. Melnikov and myself. I think there was some dancing involved if I remember correctly ;)

Now this was the favorite....for anyone not aware of the local football goings-on in this area....the Buffs are a big deal. They had a pep rally-esque party on Pearl St. when we were there and the CU marching band was there to rev everyone up. Now seriously who doesn't get pumped going to games and hearing the marching band??

The boys absolutely loved it....and again I think the mister and I were guilty of a little hip-shaking as well!

We had a great day....another one of those 'we love where we live' moments.
And today was just as great, but I'll save that one for tomorrow.....it's movie night ;)
